Arsenal Monitor Eintracht Frankfurt Talent Can Uzun as €60m Clause Sets Asking Price

Arsenal have made early enquiries about Eintracht Frankfurt forward Can Uzun as they assess possible attacking options for the future. The 20-year-old Turkey international is attracting attention across the Premier League, but Frankfurt are in a strong position to dictate the terms of any negotiations.

Reports say Arsenal have held preliminary talks with Uzun’s representatives at agency 11WINS. The club is also understood to be considering another player represented by the same agency: Club Brugge striker Nicolò Tresoldi. The discussions are at an exploratory stage and do not indicate that Arsenal are preparing an immediate bid for either player.

Uzun’s rapid rise in the Bundesliga has made him one of the more closely watched young attackers in Germany. Scouts have noted his ability to find and use space, keep possession under pressure and connect play through the middle. Those qualities have prompted comparisons with Dimitar Berbatov, particularly in relation to his composure and awareness in tight areas.

The Frankfurt player can operate as a supporting striker or as an advanced central playmaker. His close control allows him to receive the ball in crowded parts of the pitch, while his link-up play can help move attacks forward. These traits are reportedly of interest to Mikel Arteta’s recruitment team, which continues to assess how potential signings might fit the demands of Arsenal’s system.

Arsenal are not alone in following Uzun’s progress. Aston Villa, Brighton and Everton are also monitoring him in Germany. Earlier interest has been linked to Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Napoli, underlining the broad competition for a player whose value has risen alongside his performances.

Frankfurt have little reason to accept a reduced offer. Uzun is under contract until June 2029, and reports indicate the Bundesliga club would require his €60 million release clause to be paid in full before considering a sale. His valuation was previously discussed at around €40 million, but his form has since brought the asking figure into line with the clause.

For Arsenal, the price may prove decisive. The club has generally been cautious about paying release clauses for developing players, especially when the move is not an urgent priority. As a result, the most likely near-term approach is continued assessment rather than a winter transfer push.

What Uzun could offer Arsenal

Uzun’s ability to play in more than one central attacking role could make him an appealing long-term option. A secondary striker can occupy defenders and link with teammates, while an advanced playmaker may help create chances between the opposition’s midfield and defence. His versatility would give Arsenal additional tactical choices, although adapting to the Premier League’s pace and physical demands would take time.

His comfort receiving the ball under pressure is another notable asset. Against compact opponents, attackers often have limited room to turn or carry possession. A player who can retain the ball in those situations may help a team sustain attacks and create openings, rather than relying solely on passes into space or wide deliveries.

A move would also require consideration of playing time. Arsenal already have established attacking options, so any young arrival would need a clear development pathway and a role suited to his strengths. Regular minutes, whether as a starter or from the bench, would be important if the club were to justify a major investment.

Why Frankfurt can wait

The length of Uzun’s contract gives Frankfurt leverage and allows the club to plan around him without pressure to sell. The release clause provides a clear financial threshold, but it also means interested teams must decide whether his potential and current output justify the full €60 million commitment.

For now, Arsenal’s reported contact appears to be part of a broader scouting process. The club can continue tracking Uzun’s performances and evaluating his development before deciding whether to pursue him. Unless Arsenal are prepared to meet Frankfurt’s terms, a future move is more plausible than an immediate departure from Germany.
